Fanny Brice (Barbra Streisand) is a famous Broadway star but the Wall Street crash of the 1930s and the Great Depression has caused even her wealth to dwindle. When it seems that no one is able to come up with the money to promote any more shows, Billy Rose (James Caan) comes to the rescue. He is ready to take the world by storm. He uses his charm to talk Fanny into joining him in making a production the likes of which Broadway has never seen. Together they make an unstoppable team and get married int the end. But the past begins to haunt them both. Fanny still believes she loves her first husband Nick (Omar Sarif) and Billy can’t get over his eye for the ladies. Is their marriage doomed?
